A message for believers…

You don’t have to go it alone. Not only does God love you, but your unique abilities and perspective is something other people actually need. Like with our bodies, even losing one little toe means suffering loss; the church is not whole without you. Following Jesus, even haphazardly, will mean rough sailing sometimes… “All who [even just] desire to live godly lives…will be persecuted.” Together we can get through it. We can even make a party of it. But alone every obstacle can feel like life or death. You’ll never know the Gospel fully on your own, and the church will never know the Gospel fully without your perspective…so we need one another.
For those of you who have been burned by churches in the past, I apologize for them. They didn’t know what they were doing. Maybe they still don’t know what they did to hurt or disrespect you, but that’s always the danger with sinful people – even when we’re trying to do good, we sometimes do evil.
For any of you who feel burned by me – I didn’t know what I was doing. And I still might need you to tell me what it was – because it’s impossible for me to sincerely apologize for something without knowing what I did. But I’m sinful and prone to overlooking things. More than that I’m naturally argumentative and inwardly I love a good debate…so that can be a problem (just ask Grace!)
If you’re a believer, you’re a child of the king – and it’s our job to recognize you as such! I think the world means to separate us, but God wants us to do this together – to follow Him together, to seek His will and learn things together. In the world people cut each other down (even amongst friends), but in God’s church we build each other up – because we all wind up finding our purpose in Him.
