What if…& your ministry

There’s no reason why you should watch this video of a puppy imitating a whistling sound -other than it freaking cute!
What would happen to the the Church if people like you and me didn’t find the unique ministry that God has for us? (See a couple of posts back for what I mean by “ministry”)…
Here’s what COULD happen (two extremes):
#1 – Everyone would try to emulate the ministry of the church leader… If the leader is a theologian, you’d have all these wannabe theologians running around. If you the leader was a gifted speaker, you’d have all these hammy people hamming it up. If the leader was a cultural trend-setter of some kind, you’d have a bunch of wanna-be hipsters. If the leader was a spiritual guru type, everyone would run around trying to be deep. There’s nothing wrong with deep theological hammy hipsters, it’s just sad when you people become wannabes of any kind.
#2 – No one would follow the church leader. If the leader were suitably gifted and unique, then no one would even try to do what he does – they’d just do nothing. You can have a hundred thousand people go see the mega-evangelist Billy Graham who will never try to share God’s message with anyone themselves… “Let him do it… and we can root from the sidelines.”
Either way the both you and the Church will miss out (which is pretty much what happens) on the extraordinary things that only YOU can come up with! God has made you “you” for a reason, and there are unique ways in which you can serve God by serving people – that only you can do…
You may not be the strongest person in the world – or the smartest – or the fastest – or the richest or the handsomest… Good! If you were you’d make the rest of us feel insecure and we’d hate you… But there’s some way in which you can imitate God in this world that no one else will ever be able to do.
