Relational flexibility…

That’s a fancy way of saying sometimes you are the one in charge, sometimes you’re the one taking orders, sometimes you’re the student, sometimes you’re teacher – sometimes the joker, or the serious one, sometimes the childish one, or the responsible one… A healthy person isn’t just one thing, but can be different for different times and circumstances. But emotionally unhealthy people are often the ones who are “stuck” in one position. Things that are frozen are hard when they bump into things, and more brittle, and likely to break. But emotionally flexible people can bend to the occasion and get something, and give something…
One remarkable thing about Jesus was that he let people take care of him. What could Jesus need from you? Not only that but God also made himself weak, as a child, so that someone would have to teach him how to do basic things. The hands that crafted the universe needed someone to show him how to tie his sandals. He was both big and small, weak and strong, wise and teachable. He who knew everything genuinely learned things. And most importantly, by doing so he learned what it was like to be us.
