If you can’t be a failure you can’t be a Christian…

You heard me. You can only begin to actually follow Jesus the minute you admit that everything you’ve ever done was wrong (in some way). It’s the promise of limitless joy and power for those who renounce all claims to such things. That’s the only way selfish people like us could embark on a relentless pursuit of truth and good and knowing God…without twisting it to create a self-elevating narrative. There’s no room for ego in following Jesus… If you insist on holding onto your pride, you’ll never make it through the front door. But there’s plenty of room for laughs and wonder and enjoyment…and tears, and love and hope. There’s lots of room for that.
