Making God the One…

There’s something to which you never say “no.” Maybe you never say no to work. Maybe you never say no to sex. Maybe you never say no to self-advancement. Or to fun. Or to money. Some of you reading this will wonder “Why would you ever say no to – - – ?” Whatever you never say “no” to, rules you, guides you, shapes you. And in the end letting any of these things take the lead has consequences…
So… we know (and have plenty of examples of) people who never say “no” to career-advancement eventually get screwed. You might just get the career you want, but little else.
But we also know (and have plenty of examples of) people who never say no to personal-pleasure, you will experience diminishing returns on all your pleasure, and miss out on purpose and love and meaning…
Whatever you never say no to is your “god” – and these things, while important, were never meant to be gods. Everything good (sex, work, play, family, friends, self fulfillment, etc) needs to have limits somewhere. But if you make God the thing to which you never say “no” – if your attitude toward God, in truth is “whatever you will, whatever you say, whatever you want, I’m with you.” You will have time for EVERYTHING good. Why? Because God created work and play and sex and love, and therefore following Him allows for all the good things.
How do YOU make God the one? Here’s how you start: the stuff you do for God – the stuff you KNOW God wants you to do. Do it.
