Reason for not judging…

He can’t do anything right. Whatever he does, even “okay” things, are tainted because you’ve already made up your mind about him. And all your friends seem to agree. So what’s left to talk about?
Everyone agrees (on some level) that judging people is a bad idea, and yet everybody seems to do it to somebody or other… I ran across this verse in my reading (Romans 2:4 – click for the paragraph) that argues for not-judging people in a way I never thought of… He says, (my translation): ‘look, God is not judging or condemning the person right now – do you think God’s mercy and patience is stupid?’ Do you really think it’s better to condemn the person in your mind here and now – rather than do what God, the perfectly impartial judge, is doing? Is it possible that what you’re doing in judging is actually worse than what the person you’re judging will do in the end? Just a thought.
