Your Armor

Most New Yorkers wear some kind of armor… It might not be the kind that clanks when it you hit it, but you wear it nonetheless… What you wear, where you went to school, where you live, where you work. Many of these things (and things like it) are props to make you feel good or strong or worthy somehow.
Anyway I only mention it because there’s a long standing theological tradition that talks about “putting on Christ” or clothing oneself with Him… as with armor. The trick to doing that is understanding what you are currently using as armor, and trading up. So just the way Iron Man Tony Stark (of comic book fame) is physically weak, a superhero with a heart condition; nevertheless he is strong in the suit…we too are called to be both weak and strong with a confidence that comes from a God who loves (and empowers) sinners.
