The Gift of Being Underappreciated

The hope for a lot of people is to do something fairly easy and to be rewarded with fame and recognition and honor… To be like the “natural” in a sport who wins championships without breaking a sweat – to have an easy and unchallenged greatness. Yes…that would be cool.
But what if God has something different in mind for you (as He did for Jesus). What if God asked you, “Will you work for me instead of for worldly praise?” “Will you follow Me in doing what is good and true and beautiful regardless of what it gets for you?”
You might not be getting the praise you deserve right now (no Hollywood star for you just yet) but maybe there’s a sort of honor that comes with that. Will you be worthy of such a calling? Because if so, in some small way, you’ve just entered into His Kingdom economy. An economy not based on dollars and GDP but on truth and faithfulness…and what the Ancients would have considered the company of angels…
