Snob-Free Zone

Part of what made Israel’s culture so interesting in Ancient times (and often disliked) is that they refused to bow down to anyone. You can’t be anywhere in the East without doing customary head bows and salutations today – it was much more so in Ancient times. You were expected to bow to rich people and leaders (usually the same thing)… But God commanded Israel not to worship anyone but God, and they saw bowing to people as a kind of worship…
The way this translates to our church is that we must be a snob-free zone. And right now I think we are – so far so good! Everywhere else, people who gain social status are treated better than those who don’t – but we don’t buy into that sort of thinking. And the way it works out practically is we try to root out all the snobbery in ourselves and keep our fellowship clear of it too… What a concept! But let’s not stop there… God calls us to be agents of this…by making snob free zones wherever we are…at work, at home, among friends… Together we can root out snobbery in our generation
Well no, we probably can’t – but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try…something Jesus said about being salt (which makes food taste better, and keeps it from spoiling as quickly).
Now this is the part where I tell you where our snob free zone meets: Sunday mornings, 11:11 AM at 873 Broadway (bet 18-19th St)…When you get to the front door there will be a sign telling you to buzz #0020 – and when you get to the 4th floor you’ll see more signs pointing you to Room 408. Cheers!
[About the photo: As far as motorcycles go, Ducatis are the snobbiest - this one is parked like a car - but it's actually okay for a motorcycle to be a snob. It's in the third chapter of Leviticus...I think]
