Gospel Transformation

There’s a difference between self-powered change and true Gospel transformation. Change is like the difference between a caterpillar and a prettier-caterpillar. Gospel transformation is like the difference between a caterpillar and a butterfly. When you’re a pretty caterpillar, you’re trying to be better in something, be a better person, be a better Christian, be nicer to people, be more faithful, etc… But Gospel transformation is not something you DO, it’s something that happens to you as you get to know yourself and know God more deeply…
There’s nothing wrong with self-powered change but it often doesn’t last long (leading many to believe that people can’t really change). As far as I can tell there’s no short cut to the real work of real growth that comes from getting to know yourself and God more deeply… (haha, but if I find one, I’ll let you know!)
